EICC Pandemic Preparedness and Response Plan
The goals of the EICC Pandemic Preparedness and Response Plan are as follows:
- Preserve human life.
- Decrease the occurrence of illness among the EICC community.
- Maintain continuity of academics and essential operations during any period when students and employees are sent home.
- Maintain educational and financial viability despite possible campus evacuation of students and employees.
- Keep our community and families educated and informed.
- Integrate efforts with community agencies.

Emergency Procedures
In an effort to keep our students safe and informed in emergency situations, Eastern Iowa Community Colleges have added a new system to help alert students, faculty and staff of school closings and other emergencies.
EICCAlert is a free service* to send text and voice messages and email notifications to students, staff and parents about campus closing.

Reporting an Injury
In the event of an accident or incident occurring on campus, the appropriate report form should be completed. Incidents include theft, vandalism, property damage, traffic violations, violations of the student Code of Conduct as defined in the student handbook, and inappropriate behavior by non-students. The form should be filled out as completely as possible, including any action taken as a result of the accident or incident.
The completed First Report of Injury or Illness form should be sent to the Human Resource Department within 48 hours of the occurrence.
The completed Incident Report Form should be sent to the Business Services Department. Copies will be sent specific departments when necessary. In matters where it is determined a police report should be filed, this should be done through the Business Services Department.
In the event an employee should have an accident on campus, a Workman’s Compensation Form should also be filled out. This form should be sent to the Business Services Department. A copy will be kept in that department and the original will be sent to the Board Secretary. The employee should be told to send any doctor or hospital bills to the Board Secretary. Details on Workman’s Compensation are available from the Board Secretary.

Smoke-Free Workplace
Pursuant to the Iowa Smoke free Air Act, smoking is prohibited at all EICC campuses and buildings, including, but not limited to, all private offices, conference and meeting rooms, lounges, cafeterias, hallways, restrooms, elevators, stairways, and stairwells. Smoking is also prohibited in any vehicle leased or owned by EICC and in all outdoor areas on any EICC campus, including, but not limited to any parking lot or athletic field.
