HIT 555 - Professional Practice Experience II Credit(s) 2.00 Lecture Hours: 1.00 Clinical Hours: 3.00 This course provides supervised clinical experience in health care settings. Clinic sites will be secured for students by the HIT Healthcare Site Coordinator. Sites will be chosen based on proximity to student and availability of HIT-trained, on-site supervisor(s). Emphasis will be placed on practical application of advanced concepts in the health care setting.
If a site is unable to be secured for the student, the course will provide an online learning experience simulating a health information management department through the use of virtual Electronic Health Record (EHR) activities. Upon completion, students should be able to apply advanced health information management theory to health care facility practices. This course replaces HIT 598.
Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C- in HIT 355 HIT 422 , and HIT 485 . Corequisite(s): Completion of or concurrent enrollment in HIT 505 , HIT 515 , HIT 525 , and HIT 535 . SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
