MFG 147 - Multi-Axis CNC Machining Credit(s) 2.00 Lecture Hours: 1.00 Lab Hours: 2.00 This course introduces multiple axis CNC machining and Live Tooling. This course allows students to explore concepts surrounding operation, setup, programming, and quality as applied to a wide range of Multi-Axis CNC Machines.
Prerequisite(s): , , , , and SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of advanced engineering blueprints.
- Describe a multi-axis program for a Multi-Axis CNC Lathe and Mill.
- Demonstrate work piece and machine setup on a CNC Multi-Axis CNC Lathe and Mill.
- Establish Part and Tool Zeros on a Multi-Axis CNC Lathe and Mill.
- Apply safety procedures required to use both machine tools and hand tools.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop complex programs for a CNC Vertical Milling Machine by using Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) programming techniques.
- Apply overall knowledge and ability in CAM, CNC programming, machine set-up, and machine operation.
- Apply knowledge and ability in the use of measuring and inspection tools.
