Using my VA Benefits
- Apply for your VA Education Benefits online at vets.gov/education/apply.
NOTE: You should receive a ‘Certificate of Eligibility’ from the Department of Veterans Affairs in the mail 4-6 weeks after the date of application. You must bring in a copy of this Certificate to your institution’s Certifying Official.
- Submit a copy of your DD214 (Member copy Page 4) or your NOBE.
- Apply for military transcripts to be sent to the Registrar’s Office at:
Change of Place of Training/Program
If you have already received your Educational Benefits for attendance at another institution or for a different program, you do not need to reapply for your benefits. You will still need to provide a copy of your COE to your School Certifying Official.
- If you have not used the GI Bill ® within the past year or have banking/address changes, Complete VA Form 22-1995 to notify the VA of your changes. The Department of Veterans Affairs will send a new Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
Wives or widows of qualifying veterans, who have previously received Chapter 35 benefits should complete an application at va.gov.
- If you change your major, you must notify your School Certifying Official and your advisor to make the proper changes in your account.
