ADI 340 - Women’s Imaging (Gyn and Breast) Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course will introduce students to the sonographic evaluation of the non-gravid uterus and both the breasts. Students will assemble a comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and the sonographic appearance of the embryologic, pre-menarchal, menarchal, and post-menopausal female reproductive system and the breast. This course replaces a portion of ADI 326 and a portion of ADI 357.
Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in ADI 211 , ADI 324 , and ADI 840 . SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Explain general patient preparation for sonographic imaging procedures of the non-gravid uterus.

Recognize clinical history and physical findings from the patient’s history or medical record that are relevant to the performance of gynecological or breast sonographic procedures.

Compare correlative imaging procedures that are relevant to the exam being performed.

Select appropriate equipment and standard protocols as required for sonographic evaluation of the breast or non-gravid female reproductive tract.

Differentiate between normal and selected pathological conditions of the uterus, the adnexal structures, and breast as demonstrated on sonographic images.
