ADI 840 - Sonography Clinical Practicum II Credit(s) 10.00 Lecture Hours: 0.50 Lab Hours: 1.00 Clinical Hours: 27.00 This course provides the student with three to four days per week of clinical experience in affiliate hospitals, clinics, and/or imaging centers. Students will continue to gain hands-on scanning experience on a variety of sonographic procedures under direct supervision of a staff sonographer. Emphasis will be placed on ergonomic safety, gaining proficiency in a variety of imaging techniques and protocols, as well as identification of normal and abnormal anatomy and pattern recognition. In addition, students will be required to perform select basic imaging and technical competencies.
Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in ADI 111 , ADI 260 , ADI 321 , and ADI 830 . SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Develop an advanced understanding of the role and responsibilities of a sonographer as a member of the healthcare team.

Provide appropriate instruction, preparation, and care before, during, and after sonographic procedures.

Perform both basic and more advanced sonographic procedures according the affiliate sites established protocols.

Apply knowledge gained during the previous semester effectively and safely.

Adjust technical operating factors and scanning techniques to achieve optimum results.

Record image data to assure adequate demonstration of anatomy of interest.

Work toward completion of clinical competencies as outlined in the student handbook.
