RAD 162 - Radiographic Procedures III Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 2.00 Lab Hours: 2.00 This course is a continuation of RAD 143 Radiographic Procedures II. This course will continue to introduce the student to patient positioning and procedures performed in the radiology department. Procedures to be studied and simulated in the energized laboratory are the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebrae; as well as the skull, sinuses and facial bones. Each procedure includes anatomy review, procedural guidelines, projections, and image evaluation.
Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in RAD 143 , RAD 210 , and RAD 322 . SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Model radiographic procedures of the vertebral column, skull, facial bones, and sinuses.
- Select appropriate general procedural guidelines such as patient histories, patient positions, central ray (CR), collimation, markers, radiation protection, and patient instructions for each procedure.
- Follow routine procedure flow.
- Evaluate radiographic images at the beginner level.
- Modify routine exams for non-routine patients.
