ITP 131 - Social Aspects of Deaf Culture Credit(s) 4.00 Lecture Hours: 4.00 This course examines the sociolinguistic and sociocultural aspects of Deaf people in the United States by exploring the interrelationship of language and culture. Students will examine the historical development of Deaf people as a cultural and linguistic minority group.
Prerequisite(s): ITP 129 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Discuss viewpoints of Deaf Cultural models.

Discuss oppression and power dynamics as related to the Deaf community.

Discuss attributes of American Sign Language that influence Deaf Culture values and behaviors.
