ADI 330 - Sonography Interpretation and Critique

This course provides students the opportunity to study concepts essential to quality patient care and sonographic exam performance. A wide variety of case studies will be presented and critiqued with emphasis on identification of normal anatomy, recognition of pathologic processes, and technical exam quality. Pathology-specific clinical history and physical assessment, imaging protocols and formulation of a preliminary exam interpretation will be discussed.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in ADI 345, ADI 346, and ADI 860.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Obtain a relevant clinical history and physical assessment of a patient.
Differentiate between pathological conditions based on clinical history, physical assessment of the patient, and sonographic findings.
Evaluate the technical quality of sonographic exams.
Apply any modifications to system controls necessary to produce an image of diagnostic quality.
Demonstrate proficiency in recognizing normal and abnormal sonographic patterns on exams.
Compose a relevant clinical history and preliminary exam interpretation for submission or presentation to the interpreting physician.
