MUS 123 - Music Theory II Credit(s) 4.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 Lab Hours: 2.00 This course continues the study of melodic, harmonic and structural analysis. Sight singing and aural skills are included.
Prerequisite(s): MUS 120 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Write original, four-voice chorales with cadences in all keys.

Identify phrase, period and successive phrase forms.

Identify melodic devices.

Transpose for instruments.

Recognize non-harmonic tones.

Use secondary dominants.

Part-write modulations using pivot chords.

Sight-sing melodies with tonic, subdominant and dominant harmonies.

Dictate chord progressions and melodies based on the tonic, subdominant and dominant chords.

Recognize medieval modes.
