MUS 120 - Music Theory I Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course introduces students to the basic elements of music, music reading and elementary ear training. Notation skills are emphasized.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Demonstrate basic keyboard, sight singing, rhythm and ear training skills.

Draw pitches on the staff.

Identify major and minor key signatures and scales.

Notate and count simple and compound rhythms.

Identify and write intervals and chords.

Recognize all cadences.

Write and harmonize a melody.

Analyze elementary harmonic progressions.

Identify non-harmonic tones.
