BIO 295 - General Ecology and Lab Credit(s) 4.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 Lab Hours: 2.00 This course is intended for biology and related majors. Topics addressed by lecture, discussion, and laboratory including historical development and scientific method, physical environment, organisms and species, communities and ecosystems and theory. Lab activities include written reports and oral presentations.
Prerequisite(s): and or with instructor permission SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the concept of ecology as a science.
- Examine the impact of the physical environment on ecosystems.
- Describe evolution and adaptation as it relates to ecology.
- Discuss the interrelationship between organisms, populations, communities, and ecosystems.
- Appraise different ecological issues using the scientific method.
