ACC 103 - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program Credit(s) 1.00 Lecture Hours: 1.00 This course prepares the student to understand and apply basic tax law to assist taxpayers in satisfyng their tax responsibilities through the Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. The student will develop communication skills necessary to complete the intake/interview process and will follow ethical guidelines in completion of the tax preparation process.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain tax rules and regulations involved in the return preparation process, including preparation of the basic 1040 form.
- Demonstrate communication skills necessary to interview tax clients and capture their necessary information.
- Demonstrate the ethical responsibilities and behaviors inherent in the preparation of individual tax returns.
