SOC 120 - Marriage and Family Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course is a study of the contemporary American family, the interpersonal relationships of family members, the emergence of human personality, and the roles and role expectations of our culture, with emphasis on how they affect the student.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate an understanding of social science methods used in analyzing social phenomena and the diversity of human perspectives.

Develop a foundation of knowledge regarding the study of marriage and the family.

Demonstrate an understanding of how the social situations that influence how we feel, think, and act vary between individuals as they experience marriage and family differently.

Recognize the concepts, models, theories, and paradigms that sociologists employ as they study marriage and family.

Recognize the historical trends that have affected the institution of marriage and family.
