POL 125 - Comparative Government and Politics Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course is a survey of political institutions across the globe. It includes discussion of the political institutions of countries at different levels of development. Emphasis will be placed on the impact of these differences on a state’s citizens and public policy. Comparative Government will familiarize students with similarities and differences of governments around the world.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze comparative government political theories.
- Describe different international political systems, institutions, policies, and behaviors.
- Explain the historical factors contributing to these structures.
- Describe the roles of the executive, the legislature, the cabinet, interest groups, political parties, citizen involvement and the judiciary in these governments.
- Analyze global data in relation to political science.
