POL 121 - International Relations

This course involves the study of international relations, including major theories and concepts relating to the international political system, international organizations, foreign policy, globalization, international economics, ecology, and international conflict. The course is designed to give the student a better understanding of international relations in the world today with application to specific cases.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Analyze historic events and their impact on the current international system.

  • Explain primary international relations theories and paradigms.

  • Describe strategies and policies used to achieve power and security in international relations.

  • Analyze economic concepts and strategies.

  • Apply theories of international behavior to current cases, issues, and articles.

  • Analyze multiple global worldviews.

  • Describe global governance challenges such as, climate change, global health, and terrorism.
