MFG 221 - CNC Milling Operator Credit(s) 2.00 Lecture Hours: 1.00 Lab Hours: 2.00 This course will introduce students to Computer Numeric Control (CNC) milling centers in the manufacturing setting. Various projects will strengthen the student’s proper use and troubleshooting of this equipment.
Prerequisite(s): and MFG 371 or with Instructor permission Corequisite(s): SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate how to safely operate a CNC milling center.
- Demonstrate how to set work coordinate offsets and tool offsets on a CNC milling center.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance on a CNC milling center.
- Demonstrate how to load programs onto a CNC milling center.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the difference between tool number and pocket number.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how to program tools as “heavy” and “large”.
- Demonstrate how to write basic G&M code for a CNC milling center.
- Troubleshoot and edit programs for CNC milling centers.
- Demonstrate how to identify correct tools.
