ITP 135 - Introduction to Language Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course introduces students to the linguistic features of American Sign Language (ASL). Students will learn the characteristics common to all languages and the basic descriptive tools of linguistics. Phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and applications of American Sign Language will be studied.
Prerequisite(s): ITP 141 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Recall basic knowledge of historical background of ASL.

Recognize and integrate ASL signing principles both receptively and expressively.

Demonstrate appropriate usage of sign vocabulary contained in the text.

Demonstrate proficiency in following the grammatical rules of ASL.
