HSE 285 - Industrial Hygiene Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course will provide the necessary information to the students to allow them to establish and maintain a basic industrial hygiene program. The student will learn basic environmental sampling concepts for the collection and analysis of data to identify problems, and develop methods and procedures to control or eliminate occupational exposures in the workplace. The course will cover physical and chemical exposures in the workplace.
Prerequisite(s): HSE 270 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Recognize basic chemical, physical, and biological exposures in the workplace.

Describe the methods used to assess the risks to workplace employees.

Demonstrate the ability to research toxicological aspects of exposures and sampling methods used in evaluating exposures in the workplace.

Describe the legal, professional, and ethical framework for the practice of industrial hygiene.
