HSE 280 - Hazardous Materials Health Effects

This course provides a review of human health effects from various exposures to chemicals. Topics covered include determination of risk factors, routes of entry of hazardous materials and their effects on target organs, acute and chronic effects, and control measures.

Prerequisite(s): HSE 105  
SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of the research of systematic health effects due to exposure to hazardous materials.

  • Recognize control measures used to reduce potential and existing health hazards to the human body.

  • Identify the basic functions of the organs of the human body and what will happen to those organs, including clinical manifestations of acute and chronic injuries and diseases when exposed to hazardous substances.
