HIS 231 - Contemporary World Affairs Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course is designed to be a study of current events viewed in their historical context. Emphasis is placed on global politics, domestic issues, and cultural developments. This course satisfies a general education requirement in the Cultural/Historical Perspectives Area.
Recommended and Non-Course Requisites: SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
- Analyze the impacts of fields such as history, geography, economics, and environmental science to better understand current global issues.
- Describe economic theories, such as Liberalism, Neoliberalism, Marxism, Austerity, etc.
- Apply theories of international behavior to current and historical issues.
- Analyze how historical changes affect current international events.
- Explain how the current behavior of international actors is mediated by factors such as culture, history, and geography.
