HCR 271 - Advanced Domestic Heating and Air Conditioning Credit(s) 5.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 Lab Hours: 4.00 This course is designed to provide students with the basics of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The topics covered in this course are geared toward residential central air-conditioning systems and air source heat pumps. This course is intended for those who are looking to obtain basic knowledge.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate Knowledge of heat and air conditioning equipment, tools, and safety.
- Identify components in 80% and 90% furnaces.
- Troubleshoot components in 80% and 90% furnaces.
- Identify components in central air conditioning systems.
- Troubleshoot components in central air conditioning systems.
- Demonstrate Knowledge in psychrometrics.
- Demonstrate Knowledge in basic heating and air conditioning sequence of operation.
- Demonstrate maintenance procedures in heating and air conditioning equipment.
- Demonstrate installation procedures of heating and air conditioning equipment.
- Obtain certification under section 608 of the Clean Air Act.
