HCR 271 - Advanced Domestic Heating and Air Conditioning

This course is designed to provide students with the basics of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The topics covered in this course are geared toward residential central air-conditioning systems and air source heat pumps. This course is intended for those who are looking to obtain basic knowledge.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate Knowledge of heat and air conditioning equipment, tools, and safety.
  • Identify components in 80% and 90% furnaces.
  • Troubleshoot components in 80% and 90% furnaces.
  • Identify components in central air conditioning systems.
  • Troubleshoot components in central air conditioning systems.
  • Demonstrate Knowledge in psychrometrics.
  • Demonstrate Knowledge in basic heating and air conditioning sequence of operation.
  • Demonstrate maintenance procedures in heating and air conditioning equipment.
  • Demonstrate installation procedures of heating and air conditioning equipment.
  • Obtain certification under section 608 of the Clean Air Act.
