ESL 244 - Low Advanced ESL Grammar/Writing Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This is a course for non-native speakers in the acquisition of advanced grammatical structures and writing skills necessary for academic English. Emphasis is placed on practicing structure in context and writing fluently. This course is designed so a student could concurrently enroll in selected non-ESL courses.
Corequisite(s): Taking the Combined English Language Skills Assessment (CELSA) test is recommended. SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate academic writing skills.
- Employ academic thinking by formulating and supporting opinions, arguments, and hypotheses in English.
- Utilize advanced grammatical structures.
- Demonstrate comfort as a non-native English speaker.
- Develop advanced language skills.
