EGT 470 - PLTW - Engineering Design and Development

Lecture Hours: 3.00
This is an engineering research course in which students work in teams to research, design and construct a solution to an open-ended engineering problem. Students apply principles learned in prior required courses. Teams will defend their solution to the engineering problem.

Prerequisite(s): EGT 400  or EGT 410  
SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge in problem identification and justification.

  • Apply knowledge in the design process.

  • Develop knowledge of building and testing a prototype.

  • Apply knowledge of CAD solid modeling.

  • Apply knowledge of effective jury presentation.

  • Use research skills.

  • Develop an understanding of innovation versus invention.

  • Use engineering drawing standards.

  • Safely use tools.
