EGR 107 - Engineering Academy

Lecture Hours: 6.00
This course provides students with a broad introduction to the field of engineering and its various disciplines. Particular emphasis will be given to hands-on, project-based learning in collaboration with an industry partner.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C- in MAT 128 .  Immediate prerequisite course must be completed with a minimum grade of C- or minimum math placement score based on college assessment within the last 2 years. 
SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate familiarity with engineering as a profession.

  • Demonstrate familiarity with engineering problems and problem-solving methodology.

  • Demonstrate familiarity with fundamental engineering topics.

  • Describe engineering problem-solving methodology for realistic engineering problems

  • Apply engineering problem-solving methodology to realistic engineering problems.

  • Demonstrate skills in graphical representation of engineering data.

  • Demonstrate skills in the analysis of engineering data.

  • Communicate technical data through oral presentations.

  • Communicate engineering concepts through oral presentations.

  • Demonstrate ability to work in teams to solve open-ended engineering problems.
