ECE 168 - Science and Math Activities for Young Children

This course is designed for students in early childhood education. Curriculum is presented in a developmental sequence designed to support young children’s construction of the concepts and skills essential to a fundamental understanding of math and science.

Prerequisite(s): ECE 103  and ECE 159  
SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Utilize the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s science and math standards.

  • Use problem solving techniques when working with young children.

  • Illustrate how math can be integrated with other content areas.

  • Discuss developmental sequencing.

  • Utilize technology to enhance knowledge of math and science within the early childhood classroom.

  • Demonstrate the ability to integrate scientific concepts into other curriculum areas.
