DSL 519 - Automatic Drive Train Credit(s) 4.00 Lecture Hours: 1.75 Lab Hours: 4.50 This course acquaints the student with the major components and operation of automatic transmissions. This course includes the functions and operation of truck transmissions, the functions and operations of the hydraulic system, lock-up type torque converter, and disassemble, rebuild and assembly procedures. Labs correlate with lectures to provide the student with practical hands-on experiences.
Prerequisite(s): AUT 115 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Identify major parts of an automatic transmission.

Explain the functions of automatic transmission components.

List the procedure for automatic transmission overhaul.

Remove an automatic transmission from vehicle.

Disassemble the transmission into sub-assemblies.

Reassemble the sub-assemblies.

Reinstall the sub-assembles.
