A survey of the flora and fauna of various habitats including classification, life history, data and ecology. Emphasis is on field observations and techniques useful in analysis of natural populations.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Develop knowledge of various field techniques used for sampling flora, fauna, and soil in the Midwest.

  • Develop an ecology experiment.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of local flora and fauna.

  • Apply techniques to studying animals and plants.

  • Proficiently use research skills to examine literature related to ecological topics.

  • Apply statistical techniques to analyze gathered data.
