ACC 265 - Income Tax Accounting Credit(s) 4.00 Lecture Hours: 4.00 This course provides an introduction to income tax accounting for individuals and small businesses. Topics include the fundamentals of federal income tax laws, income inclusions and exclusions, deductions, credits, and tax paying strategies. Students will learn to prepare accurate tax returns and apply critical thinking to solve tax-related problems. This course is designed to equip students with practical skills and foundational knowledge for careers in accounting and tax preparation.
Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in ACC 111 , ACC 121 , or ACC 142 , or permission of the Instructor SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of federal income tax fundamentals.
- Demonstrate the ability to prepare and review individual and small business tax returns.
- Analyze tax implications to determine appropriate tax treatments for various financial situations.
- Utilize tax software to prepare, analyze, and electronically file returns accurately and efficiently.
- Identify and recommend basic tax planning strategies to optimize tax outcomes for individuals and small businesses.
- Demonstrate ethical tax practics and apply them in compliance with federal laws and professional standards.
