ACC 221 - Cost Accounting Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course introduces basic cost accounting concepts and product cost accumulation procedures emphasizing differences between job order, process, and standard costing. Emphasis is placed on managerial accounting activities of controlling costs, cost analysis, and decision making activities.
Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in ACC 146 . SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the basic concepts and purposes of cost accounting.
- Differentiate costing methods in job order, process, and standard costing systems.
- Demonstrate the ability to accumulate and assign costs to products using job order, process, and standard costing methods.
- Analyze cost data to identify trends and variances.
- Interpret cost data implications for managerial decision-making and performance evaulation.
- Evaluate cost control practices and how this supports cost control activities.
- Demonstrate support in managerial decisions using cost accounting, such as pricing, profitability analysis, and resource allocation.
