MGT 273 - Principles of Warehouse Management Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course provides students with a deep understanding of the principles of warehouse management and how to improve efficiencies. Students will learn how goods are received, how orders are processed, how goods are replenished, how value-added services may be provided, and how goods are dispatched. Students will learn the role of the warehouse within the supply chain.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the role of the warehouse and warehouse manager in the overall supply chain.
- Evaluate the various warehouse models and designs and how they can each fulfill and affect business and the supply chain as a whole.
- Discern impact of increased customer demands and internal pressures to reduce costs while improving service level on warehouse and logistics managers.
- Analyze the impact of e-commerce on the warehouse’s role in the supply chain.
- Compare current and potential future advances in warehouse management.
- Strategize where automation, robotics, and advanced software systems have a positive effect on logistics operations.
- Integrate improved communication skills into workplace practice.
