ADI 265 - Cardiac Sonography II

This course introduces the student to hemodynamics, cardiovascular disease processes and pathophysiology. Risk factors, signs and symptoms, as well as medical, surgical, and interventional treatment options will be discussed. The appearance of pathology will be correlated with changes seen on sonographic images of the cardiovascular system. Spectral and color Doppler techniques used in evaluation of the heart with respect to pathology and diagnosis will be presented.

Prerequisite(s): A minimum grade of C in ADI 111 ADI 256 ADI 260 , and ADI 803

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Summarize risk factors, causes, signs and symptoms associated with cardiovascular disease in the adult patient.
  • Describe the sonographic findings associated with cardiovascular disease.
  • Explain imaging techniques and standard views used to identify and demonstrate heart disease.
  • List the diagnostic parameters used in quantitative and qualitative analysis of heart disease.
