PSY 262 - Psychology of Gender Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course is designed to explore the differences between the male and female gender from conception through adulthood. Differences in abilities and attitudes which arise from biology and the brain will be emphasized, although socio-cultural explanations for differences will also be discussed. In addition, the differences in the use of language and communication by males and females will be explored. The goal of the course is to understand these differences and to decide how males and females can use this understanding to communicate with each other and to augment appreciation for the cross-sex.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Identify the typical gender differences between males and females and the possible biological and socio-cultural explanations for these behaviors.

Critically assess research findings in reading material to formulate an enlightened position about gender differences and their origins.

Demonstrate an understanding of the different communication styles of women and men.

Identify solutions to typical problems between males and females arising from gender differences.

Verify and appreciate the differences in the cross-sex.
