This course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of abnormal behavior as it exists in modern life. Also, the student will be given criteria to recognize abnormal behavior and be shown theoretical aspects along with treatment designs.

Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Understand social science methods used in analyzing social phenomena in the diversity of human perspectives.
Identify the perspectives on abnormal behavior.
Recognize methods used by clinicians and within communities for assessment, treatment, and prevention.
Identify patterns of abnormal behavior that exist within individuals and in society as a whole.
