PSY 222 - Child Psychology Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course deals with the interplay of biological factors, human interactions, cultural forces, and social structures which shape the growing child from conception to adolescence.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Recognize the diversity of approaches in child development research and theory.

Recognize genetic, biological, environmental, and sociocultural influences on development from the prenatal period to adolescence.

Identify and discuss some of the most important aspects of normal physical development during each period of development.

Identify and discuss theories of cognitive development during each developmental period.

Identify and discuss the forces that shape psychosocial development from birth to adolescence.

Locate and critically evaluate recent research on contemporary child development issues.

Relate child development research and theory to real-life situations in which one may be working with or interacting with children at each developmental age through the use of reflection papers, portfolios, classroom demonstrations, or other methods as listed below.
