PSY 213 - Industrial & Organizational Psychology

This course is a study of psychology as a guide to the relationship of people in industry. This course is designed to help each student develop an awareness of needs, sentiments, and attitudes toward self and others in an organizational setting. Organizational problems are anticipated and preventative means are studied.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of social science methods used in analyzing social phenomena and the diversity of human perspectives.

  • Identify and describe relevant general knowledge about the world of work, including contemporary buzzwords and concepts.

  • Apply interpersonal skills in the workplace setting to address issues such as motivating people, resolving conflict, and overcoming communication barriers.

  • Identify human problems in the workplace, such as dealing with stress or difficult personalities, and apply effective coping techniques.

  • Apply strategies for personal career advancement opportunities.
