PSY 211 - Psychology of Adjustment Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course is a study of the factors of mutual accommodation, adjustment. Emphasis is placed on normal adjustment problems.
Prerequisite(s): PSY 111 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Summarize the nature of stress in our modern world.

Discuss the development and nature of self-concept and self-esteem.

Understand the various social influences that impact personal behavior.

Use interpersonal communication skills and deal more constructively with conflict.

Explain the development of gender roles and the impact of gender in self-understanding.

Identify major theories of career decision-making; current trends in the workplace; and stress related to balancing work and other spheres of life.

Identify major psychological disorders and the most commonly used treatment approaches.

Understand social science methods used in analyzing social phenomena in the diversity of human perspectives.
