PHI 105 - Introduction to Ethics Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course is designed to give an introduction to ethics from a philosophical perspective. As with any philosophical activity, it will be an inquiry into the fundamental principles and basic concepts that are found at work in the ongoing determination of right and wrong in human life. This course satisfies a general education requirement in the Arts and Humanities Area.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate, orally or in writing, knowledge of the philosophical concept of ethics as a rational and objective system of evaluating human conduct.

Demonstrate through class discussions intellectual interest and a personal involvement in the ongoing determination of right and wrong in human life.

Demonstrate an understanding of some of the classical theories of moral philosophy that can govern ethical decision-making.

Apply critical thinking in ethical decision-making through the construction of sound ethical arguments.

Apply sound, moral reasoning to contemporary issues of great social concern.

Create a workable and livable moral system that has the ability to solve moral conflicts among human beings, duties, and obligations.

Evaluate fundamental beliefs about the nature of morality.
