MMS 115 - TV Studio Production

This course introduces students to principles, procedures and techniques of television production. Emphasis is placed on the basic design and functions of TV production equipment.

SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • This course is designed to follow solid audio preparation of Radio Production as student must gain sufficient confidence in equipment function and operation before he/she can successfully attempt any on-going production sequence. Once this is achieved, the student will be able to master solid TV production instruction. This course is designed for the student with no previous TV experience, and the student who is adept with a camera. Course will train or untrain students to acquire proper knowledge about correct lighting, audio, camera shooting, patterns, basic editing principles and elementary directing concepts, all of which would be used in specific job activities. The course will be of value to students outside a given occupation or it will assist in developing problem-solving skills. Students will be given a specific technical equation to solve in a given time allowance as he/she would in the field. Students will then learn a sense of time and what can or cannot be accomplished in that time frame. Students will have an opportunity to gain practical hands-on experience by taking the lab portion of the course.
