MKT 150 - Principles of Advertising Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course explains the economic functions of advertising, its value and use in business. Analysis of consumer motivation, presentation of advertising and the effectiveness of various media is presented. Assignments give practice in effective advertising methods.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Plan strategies for identified problems within a marketing plan.
- Analyze research data that supports a given strategy.
- Demonstrate the ability to cooperate with others in developing creative solutions.
- Appraise competitive proposals in relation to strategic plan objectives.
- Describe the real economic, social and cultural roles of advertising and the impact of a society’s values on advertising.
- Explain how advertising supports news and entertainment and relates to the field of communications.
- Discuss the strategic function of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) within the broader context of business and marketing.
