MGT 265 - International Transportation & Logistics Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course focuses on the major factors of importing and exporting goods and services on a global scale. It includes understanding current terminology, regulations, analysis of and opportunities in international markets, basic principles of international financing, exchange rates, and other elements associated with the transportation and distribution operations to facilitate global trade.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Summarize the overall characteristics and importance of globalization and supply chains in the highly competitive world economies of the 21st century.
- Explain how transportation of goods and people impacts the social and political dimensions of an economy or region.
- Analyze previous and current regulations affecting transportation.
- Differentiate the various forms of rates used in transportation.
- Compare the relationship between international trade and global transportation.
- Communicate the critical role of ancillary service providers in facilitating global freight flows.
- Summarize the role of technology in third party logistics providers.
- Describe the role and importance of private transportation for various private and public organizations and the difference among the various modal types.
- Explain current issues within the domestic and global transportation industry.
