LIT 180 - Mythology Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course emphasizes the historical development and the craft of mythology through the study of major, representative works from ancient to modern day. Students will explore how mythology contributes to an understanding of the world and universe, and critically examine its pertinence to contemporary society.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 105 or ENG 107 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Further their awareness and understanding of the use and value of myth in all forms of entertainment and its pertinence to handling the challenges of life in the modern world.

Apply basic elements of literary analysis to works under study.

Recognize the relationship between individual works and their social/cultural contexts.

Analyze techniques of the genre.
