JOU 120 - Beginning Newswriting Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course presents the fundamentals of newswriting: copy editing, AP Style, spelling and vocabulary, writing leads, basic news stories, feature news stories, speech and meeting coverage, and public affairs reporting.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
The general goals of Beginning Newswriting are to have students understand what makes a news story news, learn how to conduct an interview and take notes, and to turn those notes into various types of news stories. By the end of Beginning Newswriting, students will be able to:
