FLS 142 - Elementary Spanish II Credit(s) 4.00 Lecture Hours: 4.00 This course is a continuation of FLS 141, further developing the students’ skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. In this second semester Spanish course, students will also compare similarities and differences in their own culture with Hispanic culture throughout the Spanish speaking world. This course may satisfy a general education requirement in the Cultural/Historical Perspectives Area.
Prerequisite(s): FLS 141 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Identify the main idea and interpret pieces of information on familiar and unfamiliar topics from sentences and series of connected sentences within spoken and written texts.

Express their thoughts in spontaneous spoken and written conversations on familiar topics, creating sentences and series of sentences to ask and answer a variety of questions.

Interpret information to prepare presentations about familiar topics using sentences and series of connected sentences through spoken and written language.

Compare products and practices in their own culture with other cultures to help them interpret and value cultural perspectives.

Use the Spanish language to interact at a functional, practical level in familiar contexts in speaking and in writing.
