ECE 243 - Early Childhood Guidance Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course focuses on developmentally appropriate, evidence-based approaches and positive guidance strategies for supporting the development of all children. Emphasis is on supportive interactions and developmentally appropriate environments. The student will learn to use assessment to analyze and guide behaviors. In this course, students study the impact of family and each child’s culture, language, and ability on child guidance.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Describe the obligations of an early childhood teacher in relation to child abuse and neglect.

Demonstrate how to use effective, positive communication and guidance techniques.

Support development of age appropriate behavior.

Identify techniques to help support the parent/child relationship.
