ECE 159 - Early Childhood Curriculum II Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course focuses on the development, implementation, and assessment of appropriate environments and curricula for young children ages 3-8. Students prepare to utilize developmentally appropriate practices in the context of family and culturally sensitive care. Emphasis is on understanding children’s developmental stages and developing appropriate learning opportunities, interactions, and environments in the following areas: math, science, technology, language arts, and social studies.
Prerequisite(s): ECE 158 SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Identify necessary materials and equipment required to provide developmentally appropriate play experiences for children.

Design appropriate curriculum and environments for various age groups and developmental levels.

Apply theoretical knowledge to plan young children’s activities and environments.

Assess the relationship of children’s play and learning.
