CRJ 230 - Evidence Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course traces the nature and development of law regarding the treatment and handling of evidence and its role in the criminal justice system. The student will be introduced to concepts such as direct and circumstantial evidence, relevancy, hearsay, character evidence and the various privileges that exist in evidence law. In addition, the student will learn how to present evidence in a courtroom both from a lawyer’s examination and from a witness’s testimony.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of securing a crime scene.
- Analyze methods of searching a crime scene.
- Determine best methods for collecting crime scene evidence.
- Demonstrate the ability to present various types of evidence.
