CRJ 200 - Criminology Credit(s) 3.00 Lecture Hours: 3.00 This course studies human behavior and crime and the development of corrections. Criminology utilizes sociological and cultural approaches while examining crime and the career criminal. This course introduces the causes of delinquency and the modifications of such behavior by corrective institutions and individual therapy. Emphasis is placed on studying individual personality development through inter-family relationships and antisocial aggressive acts from early abnormal family and social situations. This course is cross listed as SOC 240.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

Understand social science methods used in analyzing social phenomena in the diversity of human perspectives.

Demonstrate a basic understanding of historical development of criminology as a field of study.

Explain the major theoretical positions of the different schools of criminology.
