CON 170 - Building Construction Techniques I Credit(s) 6.00 Lecture Hours: 2.00 Lab Hours: 8.00 Building Construction Technique I provides practical application of selected construction techniques. Students learn construction techniques in preparation of flat concrete work as well as fundamentals of block laying and brick laying techniques as they relate to basic construction. OSHA training, plumbing, framing, HVAC, roof sheathing and shingling will also be learned techniques.
SLOs: Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:-
Identify the basic home building construction techniques through hands-on lab experiences.

Demonstrate the OSHA safety requirements.

Identify the need for preparation of flat concrete work.

Demonstrate foundation areas through brick laying or block laying.

Investigate the field of HVAC as a possible career through preparing the HVAC system.

Prepare the roof for roofsheathing and shingling.
