CIS 353 - Database Models and Design Strategies

This course will teach students to apply strategies and methodologies for database design, implementation and administration of local, remote and web-based database systems using industry and example-based studies and applications.

Prerequisite(s): CIS 185  
SLOs:
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Discuss the database life cycle.

  • Create entity-relationship diagrams.

  • Demonstrate the use of Unified Modeling Language in creating class and activity diagrams.

  • Normalize a database.

  • Create conceptual database designs using Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
